Coaching & sprints

From learning
to doing

Training gives your team the knowledge. A sprint gives them the support, the structure and the accountability to put it to work on the plant floor, and to make it stick.

Why coaching

Knowing what to do, isn’t the same as doing it

70% of improvement initiatives fail, and almost never for lack of knowledge. They fail in the doing, when daily firefighting crowds out the change and good intentions quietly slip.

Training takes your team from unaware to knowledgeable, and that matters. But knowledge isn’t skill. Skill comes from doing the work, with someone experienced alongside to coach, correct and keep the momentum going. That gap between knowing and doing is exactly what a sprint closes.

Training is enough when

  • You need to build knowledge and a shared language across the team.
  • Your people can apply it themselves once they know how.
  • You are filling a skills gap, not running a change project.

A sprint is what you need when

  • You need the change actually implemented and sustained, not just understood.
  • A past improvement effort stalled or faded once the initial push ended.
  • You need a documented strategy and a business case to get leadership behind it.
  • You want expert support and accountability while your team does the work.

Most teams use both: training to build the knowledge, a sprint to turn it into results.

What a sprint is

We train, we coach, you execute

A sprint is not consulting. We don’t parachute in, do the work, and leave you depending on us to do it again next year. We train your team, we coach them through the work, and your team executes it. That builds capability and ownership, so when the sprint ends, the improvement sticks.

Sprints,
not marathons

A defined scope and a finish line, 12 weeks or 12 months. Never an open-ended engagement that bills by the hour.

Fixed scope,
fixed price

You know what you are getting and what it costs before you start. No scope creep, no surprise invoices.

Coached by
a practitioner

Not a junior coach trained in the method. The practitioner who built it.

Own the result
and go further

The goal of every sprint is that you don’t need the next one. We build your team’s capability, not their reliance on us.

The sprints

Two sprints. Which one is for you?

Both sprints are live and online, built around your team’s real work, not generic exercises. Start with where you are. If you don’t yet have a clear, credible plan, start with the Reliability Strategy Sprint. If you already know what to fix and need it actually implemented, start with an execution sprint.
Small Group Coaching12 weeks

Reliability Strategy Sprint

For leaders who know the plant is stuck in reactive maintenance but don’t yet have a credible plan to get out. Over 12 weeks you build a reliability strategy for your site, grounded in the Road to Reliability Framework, and the business case to get leadership behind it. This is Step 1 of the journey.

Format

  • 12 weeks, live and online, in a small cohort.
  • Around 3 hours a week, including 1-on-1 coaching with Erik.

You walk away with

  • A documented reliability strategy
  • A 2-year implementation roadmap
  • A business case
  • A case-for-change presentation for senior leadership

Tool Time Sprint

Planning & scheduling is where reliability programs rise or fall, and where one-off training most often fades. Over 12 months we coach your team through implementing it for real: working the backlog, protecting the schedule, and building the habits that last. You form a small implementation team, we train and coach them, and they execute.

Format

  • 12 months of group coaching for your implementation team.
  • Fortnightly coaching calls, tracked in an online portal.

You walk away with

  • Planning & scheduling implemented and sustained
  • A team that owns it

The Reliability Strategy Sprint sets your roadmap.
Execution sprints like the Tool Time Sprint deliver it, one element at a time.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to do the training first?

No. The Sprint programs include the relevant training. The Reliability Strategy Sprint is for leaders and includes live, small-group training sessions for the leaders who join the program. The Tool Time Sprint includes 30 PS100 / PS200 seats, plus dedicated live training sessions for your implementation team.

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

A consultant does the work and leaves, and the improvement usually leaves with them. We coach your team to do the work themselves, so the capability stays in-house. Fixed scope, fixed price, and a defined finish line.

Which sprint is right for me?

If you don’t yet have a clear, credible reliability plan, start with the Reliability Strategy Sprint. If you already know what to fix and need it implemented and sustained, start with an execution sprint like the Tool Time Sprint.

How much time does it take from my team?

It varies by sprint. The Reliability Strategy Sprint is around 3 hours a week for the lead manager, with two 90-minute group sessions a month. The Tool Time Sprint is built around your team’s normal work and coached through fortnightly calls. But keep in mind that for the Tool Time Sprint to succeed you need some people dedicated to its implementation. Each sprint page sets out the detail.

Can the sprint be tailored to our site?

Yes, the whole point of the Sprints is that they are custom coaching for your team. Same framework, but based around your people, your assets, your processes, your CMMS.

How is a sprint priced?

Each sprint is priced on its own page. Sprints are priced separately from the courses, and course volume discounts don’t apply.

Don’t let another initiative stall

With a sprint, the improvements your team makes outlast the next contractor, the next manager and the next reorganisation.
